“Local Voices” meeting scheduled for Tuesday, Nov 1st, in Afton

By: Karin Housley

Join us for our weekly “Local Voices” meeting this Tuesday, November 1st at 7 PM. (Social Hour begins at 6:00)

Afton House Inn
3921 St. Croix Trail S
Afton, MN 55001

Please join us as Washington County Attorney, and all around good guy, Pete Orput will be joining us at the Afton House Inn to talk about Identity Theft. He’ll share stories of the crimes he has encountered when it comes to the different types of identity theft. Ever wonder what can happen really happen on Facebook? Ever wonder what a restaurant clerk does with your credit card in the back room? Ever wonder if you really have to give out your social security number to the utility company? Pete will talk about all of these situations and how you can protect yourself from a huge hassle and a very scary situation.

Hopefully we will have some legislators at the meeting, and perhaps some candidates running for South Wash County School District 833 school board. (Vote November 8th!)

Social hour always starts at 6 PM, with the opportunity to order from their menu.

We’ve really enjoyed hosting our Local Voices Events at The Afton House Inn so we will continue to have them there. They are the first Tuesday of every month at 7 PM, so mark your calendars:

Dec 6, 2011 – Judges Forum – Should our judges be elected or appointed, that is the question. It will be similar to this event held in Shakopee. Please come! Mark you calendar!

Dec 6, 2011
Jan 3, 2012
Feb 7, 2012
Mar 6, 2012
And so on….

As always, we are lucky that our representatives continue to visit with us. Bring any questions that you have for them as they do enjoy hearing your concerns.

Hope you can make it!

The mission of Local Voices is to discuss issues affecting residents in the area, from Cottage Grove to Hastings, to Afton and the surrounding cities.
